Wine Temple

The name ‘Wine Temple’ wouldn’t be too surprising in this region, but, just for the sake of clarity, the towered building was named after its peculiar shape. Nonetheless, it has a lot to do with wine.

The Wine Temple is easy to recognize for anyone approaching the town by train. Under the tower building designed by Ede Thoroczkay-Wigand, we can find one of the richest wine cellars in the region. Its walls are decorated by the crests of Hegyalja municipalities.

World Heritage Wine Museum

A spectacular, unique collection – the Tokaj World Heritage Wine Museum – can be found in the building of the one-time Alehouse. The exhibition presents not only the specialties of Tokaj-Hegyalja but the wines of all the ten wine regions that are part of the UNESCO World Heritage, based on the organization’s 2015 list. Visitors can discover the Tokaj wine region with three different vehicles, without even leaving the museum.
