The first documents on Erdőbénye coopers are from the beginning of the 19th century. They have always used Zemplén’s excellent oak wood to make their products. Most of the time, they created long (known as Gönc) barrels for transport and round (Szerednye) barrels for wine aging, and once they built a preserving barrel with a volume of 100 hectoliters.
The workshop presents traditional cooper tools, famous local products and the work process of barrel-making.
