The castle inn in a large, well-maintained park is part of the Degenfeld winery.
The Degenfeld family is of German and Hungarian origin, and played an important role in the life of the Tokaj-Hegyalja region. Count Imre Degenfeld was one of the founding members of the Tokaj-Hegyalja Viticultural Association, established in 1857. From 1873, the building complex hosted the Hungarian Royal State Wine-Making School.
After the war, Sándor Degenfeld lost his property and settled in Romania. In 1963, he moved to Germany with his wife, Ágnes Bethlen. The family bought back the vine estate and the castle in 1994, and after a renovation period, they opened the castle inn in 1996. The Terézia Garden is the center of the vine estate, the castle is also located here.
